For each of the following, write the 2 questions, the thesis statement, and 2 topic sentences.
Prompt 1: Write an essay in which you address the way that experiences in their personal lives have impacted the characters in the book.
What are their experiences?
What are the impacts on the characters?
Although the people documented in Evicted are living in poor conditions, their struggles with addiction, trauma, abuse, and poverty cause them to live in unstable housing situations which shows that homelessness and housing are indicative of larger social inequalities.
Larraine's struggle with addiction is the primary cause of her homelessness.
Prompt 2: Write an essay in which you explore reasons why you might agree or disagree with the following: homelessness is the fault of the homeless.
1. Is the statement true or false?
2. What does the quote mean or what is the quote actually saying or reasons why?
Although many people tend to blame the homeless for the situation, this statement is inherently false because it is saying that victims of homelessness are actually responsible for their own conditions every time which shows that to believe this statement would be to ignore systemic issues of income inequality in the US.
The lack of veracity of this quote is due to many homeless experiencing situations that are out of their control.
